RELATED APPLICATIONS
The present application claims priority over US Provisional Application No. 61 / 550,498, filed Oct. 24, 2011, the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present disclosure and related inventions generally relate to aircraft construction and aircraft materials, and more particularly to flooring materials and aircraft interior trim structures including the lavatories and galley.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The flooring construction in airplanes in areas that must withstand moisture and liquids, e.g. in the lavatories, the galleys or in the hold, is provided with an underlying cup or tray over which a cover layer of flooring material is applied, such as e.g. a polymer or rubber layer which may or may not be adhesively bonded to the underlying cup or tray. In this type of construction, there is a susceptibility to moisture or fluid gathering between the cup or shell and the overlying material when the fluid bonding of the overlying material fails. For example, in aircraft toilets, malodorous fluids may accumulate under the topcoat, thereby necessitating removal and replacement of the topcoat. The use of edge sealant does not look good and eventually fails, allowing moisture to penetrate beneath the floor.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present disclosure and related inventions provide an improved aircraft floor covering construction wherein the flooring (e.g., above the floor structure of the aircraft) is a one-piece construction of material or materials having suitable physical properties, e.g. Wear resistance and low flammability and toxicity, for long-term and safe use in aircraft.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of an aircraft toilet;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a built-in toilet tray cup according to the present disclosure. FIG.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
An exemplary embodiment of a paving product according to the present disclosure, suitable for use in an aircraft toilet L, such as shown in FIG. 1, and consisting of a unitary unit 10, preferably made of a thermoformable combination of a panel with ABS / PVC layers made with a decorative PVC cover. The unitary thermoformable floor unit 10 (also referred to herein as " toilet bowl 10 " or " floor ") may be formed into a toilet bowl 10 and placed directly in an airport lavatory L in a manner effective to transport fluid from an upper surface of the toilet Soil to a lower surface of the soil prevented. In addition to the advantages already mentioned, the one-piece thermoformable floor unit 10, when formed like a toilet bowl 10, can be made substantially lighter than prior art two-piece constructions (in which a decorative floor covering material is adhesively connected to an underlying cup). , The duration and complexity of the installation is also reduced as several steps are eliminated, such as installing an underlying cup and then applying a decorative topcoat or cover.
An example of an embodiment according to the present invention of a one-piece thermoformable toilet floor cup 10 suitable for use in the interior of aircraft in the presence of moisture and liquid comprises one or more ABS layers, such as e.g. seven (7) layers of flame-retardant, pressure-laminated 0.15 inch (0.38 cm) sheet with ABS / PVC layers and 0.16 inch (0.41 cm) topcoat, e.g. a clear PVC cover in the form of a cast film, which may have screen printing or roller printing.
Further examples of the construction of the toilet bowl 10 according to the disclosure are given below: I. Top coat

These one-piece floor structures for the toilet bowl 10 may be manufactured using conventional thermoforming techniques.
One-piece floor constructions of this type yield the following results in a 12-second Vertical Burn Test: 12 s VB Extinguishing Time Länae of Fire 1 0 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) 2 0 0.3 inches (0 , 76 cm) 3 0 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) Average 0 0.233 inches (0.592 cm)
The toilet bowl 10 may be manufactured in any shape for any dimensions and shapes of aircraft toilet or galley by thermoforming using male and female dies. An example of an embodiment of the bottoms product and a method for its preparation according to the disclosure and related inventions comprises a print layer, preferably with a clear topcoat, e.g. 0.016 inches thick, and seven layers of 0.015 inch (0.04 cm) thick ABS. The print layer and the ABS layers can be color coordinated or otherwise matched. Using a mold of an aircraft floor covering or in the form of an existing " toilet bowl " The composite layers are thermoformed to obtain a one-piece toilet bowl. The toilet tray 10 thus prepared has acceptable frictional properties (i.e., skid resistance) and flame resistance, as tested by, for example, a 12-second vertical flame test. In one embodiment, the combined materials have a web size of 48 inches by 96 inches (122 x 244 cm). The temperature for thermoforming is approximately in the range of 335 to 365 ° F (about 168 to 185 ° C) and is preferably applied to the back or bottom to obtain the texture. The combined materials are dried at 155 ° F (about 68 ° C) for 16 hours prior to thermoforming. Thermoforming dies can be used to obtain surface gloss and texture. Sand can be added to change the friction properties. 5/9 4-
